Education Quality Foundation of India (EQFI) with support from IBM organises conference on Leveraging Emerging Technology and Teaching Tools to Foster Creativity, Critical Thinking and Innovation in Learners

Vadodara, Gujarat – EQFI, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in India, is making significant strides in shaping the future of learning and teaching. Founded in 2007, EQFI envisions a world where every educational experience is rooted in quality, empowering both students and educators to transform potential into capabilities.

The organization’s impact extends across 19 Indian states, touching the lives of 300,000 students, 15,000 teachers, and 5,000 schools.
In Vadodara, Gujarat, IBM join hands with EQFI to host a transformative multi-stakeholder conference focused on improving teaching and learning of emerging technologies to build critical thinking and creativity among leaners in India with support from the Samagra Siksha Gandhinagar and GCERT, Department of Education Govt. of Gujarat.
The core objective of this conference is to enhance teachers’ expertise in competency-based teaching and technology-focused curricula. By gathering insights and feedback from a diverse group of stakeholders, IBM-EQFI aims to forge a Pan-India coalition of ecosystem partners, including NGOs, industry experts, and state governments, dedicated to sustaining emerging technology interventions in education.
Dr. Anjlee Prakash, Managing Trustee, EQFI, shared a welcome address:
“The use of emerging technologies to build skill sets in children that enable them to navigate and steer the future is a critical need in these dynamic times. At EQFI, we are deeply invested in ensuring both educators and educators are future-ready and excited about the potential of these transformative initiatives.”
The conference’s central theme revolves around developing an integrated and NEP 2020-aligned curriculum that emphasizes technology, critical thinking, and creativity. This curriculum will be made accessible in the official language for students spanning grades 6 through 12.
The key panel in the conference comprised of Sh. Mahesh P. Mehta, Secretary, Samagra Shiksha Gandhinagar, Dr. Archana Tomar, Assistant Professor from Department of Education (Faculty of Education & Psychology), Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Dr. Jayna Joshi, Professor, Indian Institute of Teacher Education Gandhinagar. As Moderator, the panel had Dr. Dipooba Devada, Dean/HOD/ Director, Faculty of Education (IASE), Gujarat Vidhyapith, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Sh. Mehta during the discussion mentioned that, “Gujarat Government is very keen to focus on holistic development of the students enrolled in schools.” He informed everyone about ‘Baalvatika’ constructed within school campus as well as the availability of science lab. He said, “Gujarat government has approved 75 complex for residential school in which 2000 students will be studying and they will be able to stay and learn there.”
The conference’s long-term vision extends beyond the event itself. IBM-EQFI seeks to establish a state-level Coalition/Network that fosters acceptance of technology and teaching tools, nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and innovation among learners. Additionally, the conference aims to bridge the technology divide, ensuring equitable access to quality education resources.
